M18x r2 dual boot with Mac OSX (Hackintosh but not illegal!)

  • 3
Just wondering has anybody installed Mac OSX on their AW? I used to have a MBP and still have the installation disk (snow leopard) and a DMG file for Mountain Lion. I also produce music using Logic Pro (been stuck on Cubase for a while now but it's kind of killing my flow) Has anybody every managed to do a successful install? Cheers

ahh shoot :( really could do with getting this sorted need to jump on my music skills again

Stable UNIX platform... That's what I need. I always face problems using Linux.

Several have here in the past but all have had many issues because alienware hates mac and Apple. :)

I wish i knew how to do put osx on my Alienware i love the osx os but i hate the apple laptops i had a mbp and just bringing up a web page it got worm trying any thing high end forget it felt like it was on fire it died on me and thats why i went with an ALIENWARE it is made for high end work or play might have windows but it does have a good cooling system witch apple lacks now all i need is the osx and ill be really happy.

I hate to be a stick in the mud here guys, but if you've read the TOS for OS X it is "technically" illegal to run said OS on NON-APPLE hardware. That being said; this can be done, but you'll probably have some instability due to Optimus software for those who have Nvidia GPUs in their system. Not saying it isn't possible to do this, but with all of the associated headaches involved, wouldn't you just rather run a STABLE OS like yah know.... Windows?

i'm just wondering why the hell someone would want to ruin an AW by putting mac os on it!? i'm straight mind fucked on that one

Umm... who's caring?

BE GONE NECROMANCERS!!! OLD DEAD THREAD!! HOW DO YOU DREDGE THESE UP? 1. Apple EULA states that you can only install it on Apple hardware, so there's no such thing as a "LEGAL Hackintosh" Apple even sued and closed a company for selling PCs running OSX before making the EULA even more explicit in what OSX can and can't be installed on. All copies of OSX are upgrades by license. 2. Anything you install OSX on is going to run like kack unless it was built to run OSX as no one makes OSX Kexts/Drivers.
