Anthem: BioWare is looking into offering separate performance and visual modes on PS4 Pro, Xbox One X

BioWare has confirmed that it’s considering offering Anthem players on these powerful consoles the choice to push visuals or stabilise performance in Anthem.

Though the developer didn’t outright promise these features will be in the game, executive producer Mark Darrah revealed that it’s definitely something on the studio’s radar.

Darrah was asked this very question on Twitter. “We are looking to do that on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X,” he said.

Since the release of the two mid-generation consoles PS4 Pro, and Xbox One X, more and more developers have decided to take a page from PC games and offer players choices when it comes to the game’s presentation.

The two most common emphasise either visuals – pushing the resolution or effects quality, and performance – which focuses on delivering a stable frame-rate. Some games go the extra mile and try to shoot for 60fps in performance, though that’s rarely the case.

It’s too early to say what shape these options will take in Anthem, though we do hope they’re extensive.

Anthem is out February 22 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. BioWare recently gave us a look at all Javelin ultimates.

Proof that those consoles can do but so much if you they're forcing you to pick between the two modes. Common sense would tell you the average player wants both straight off the bat. Your performance should not ever have to take a back seat for graphic fidelity and vice versa....
