Wolfenstein: Youngblood's international Uncut Version is listed on steam and won't be censored in Germany

Ok so beforehand, here's the background for those unaware: When it comes to the portrayal of excessive violence, germany has probably the strictest laws in the world. The same applies to the representation of Nazi-Socialist symbols of the Third Reich. OK. With the country's past in mind, perhaps you can understand the irritated way of dealing. The country is suffering from the dark history. Although art was always excluded from the ban on depicting these symbols, the fewest game developers in Germany have dared to take this step - although hardly any judge would have classified a game not as "art".

Quite Suprisingly now Buyers have the choice whether they access the German version or the international original version. The latter contains National Socialist symbols. Because the USK has provided both versions with an age rating, German dealers may also advertise both versions and place them in the (virtual) shelves. In Steam everyone (including germans) can buy the uncut international Verion.

The differences between uncut original and german non-nazi version, are visually emphasized by publisher Bethesda on the cover graphics to the first-person shooter. On the international version, a lettering indicates the original version.

On the website for PSN is currently listed only the German version for PS4. The version of the Xbox Games Store for Xbox One does not currently appear on the product page. In Nintendo eShop, both versions can be found via the switch.

Bethesda said on the announcement:

"However, since the release is always a case by case decision based on the final product, development has continued on both versions."

Therefore, in Germany, both versions appear in parallel. In the German version (with German voice output) no NS symbols are included.

The original international version is available in English. The first-person shooter will be released shortly: The activation will take place on July 26th.
