Two finger trackpad scrolling

  • 0

Is two finger trackpad scrolling supposed to work? On my alienware 15", the scrolling sometimes works, but jumps back a lot of the time, or I see these gray boxes show up and fade out, and nothing scrolls etc

I got the same problem with my AW 15. I think the touchpad is bad.

:( How hard can this stuff be to get right? Is this an official Dell forum? What is the best way to get support?

Haha. Actually, I don't use touchpad a lot, so that's fine with me. The feature make me choose Alienware is the Graphics Amplifier. That will help me can play game on my laptop for 3-4 years.

Has anyone found a fix for this? I just got mine in the mail, and have experienced the same trackpad scrolling issues.

You have to activate it in the Synaptics panel, Should be in the notification panel on the task bar or in Control Panel.

Hello,

I've had this issue as well, if the cause is the same as mine, the culprit is an optional feature called "inertial scrolling" it allows you to quickly move through content by flicking your fingers off the touch-pad at the end of a two finger scroll. Inertial scrolling can be turned off in the touch-pad properties, under the gestures tab. As for the grey box that keeps popping up, I haven't found a fix for that. Any help would be appreciated.

(Alienware 17)

Version info:

Synaptics Gesture Suite

SGS Version: SGS 14.4
TouchPad Series 3.0 - Imaging Sensor
Driver Version: 18.1.34.36 06Nov14
Firmware Version: 1.3
Scrybe Version: Not installed
Interface: SMB
Windows Version: Win8.1

Hey guys,

I was having this issue as well and what I did to somewhat tone down the scroll jumping were:

- turn off the intertia scrolling

- lowered my scroll speed pretty low

- increased the pressure needed to click

It helps with the issue, but not completely resolved. Alienware needs to do something about it... also about the heat. My laptop is waaaaay too hot.

Having same issue on Alienware 15 just bought in March 15. Turned off inertial scrolling but still jumps to top of page sometimes. Grey box appears constantly and is bothersome.

Any updates on why this is happening?
