Kaspersky is testing an e-sport cheater detection tool

Kaspersky is currently well-known for one of the best anti-viruses on the market. The company intends to strengthen its position - this week it announced the introduction of a beta version of Kaspersky Anti-Cheat, a tool that is to be used by many e-sports organizations to detect cheaters at professional tournaments and competitions.

The new solution has to prevent problematic situations in which it becomes apparent after some time that the winner has committed fraud. In such moments, the organizers have a lot of problems, because of course fraudsters should be deprived of the prize, but playing the tournament again or distributing larger prizes to other participants is often simply impossible. Many organizers deal with this type of problem and fraud attempts are punished very severely. Kaspersky Anti-Cheat can be a great solution for smaller caliber of tournaments. Its operation is based on comparing data downloaded from the player's computer to those placed in the cloud. In case of any discrepancies, the organizers will be immediately informed of the situation, so that the consequences will be instant. These incidents usually occur during online competitions, where it is difficult for referees to control players. However, LAN tournaments also have strange cases, such as the one from 2018, when the CS: GO player (when cheats were detected by the referees) tried to remove them immediately.

Kaspersky partnered with StarLadder, for a trial run of Kaspersky Anti-Cheat. StarLadder chief business development officer Alexander Chegrinez said in the announcement that it will "test this new solution at our tournaments to check how often players resort to dishonest behavior."
