Alienware 17 R4 + Razer Core X: cable question

  • 2

Hello to all,

I have bought the Razer Core X graphic amplifier (it will arrive in a few days).

It uses (as any modern eGpu) a thundebolt 3 cable.

My question is: i have an Alieneare 17 R4, it has thunderbolt 3 ports but.. what about the graphic amplifier port that was built to connect the Dell G.A.?

Maybe exists a cable/connector that converts that port to thunderbolt 3?

Thanks :)

Hello Alienrobo,

The Alienware Graphics Amplifier port is custom solution engineered by Alienware/Dell.  It physically connects the GA to the machine's PCIe bus as well as some other features.  It is unlikely that a normal Thunderbolt 3 device would work on it.  In theory, the GA port would provide a much lower-latency option than TB3 would.  It is unfortunate that Alienware seems to have abandoned it :-(.

Thanks!
