Games Releasing in February Pt.1

For some of the public, the most notable thing happening in February in Valentine's Day. That's cool and all, but gamers know that this next month is one of the most stacked months when it comes to game releases! I'm here to take you through all the games that are releasing this next month so that you might be better equipped to decide on which games you're jumping to first, and which ones you might want to leave for a rainy day. This list will be split between a Part 1 and 2 as to not overwhelm anyone- it's a lot!
 

Granblue Fantasy: Relink (PC, PS4/5) - February 1

Arriving on PC for North Americans on January 31st PS4, PS5 on February 1st, Granblue Fantasy: Relink is an action RPG that you can play either alone or with up to 3 others in co-op. The game has a beautiful art style from Japanese developers Cygames, Inc. Players will each be able to play a unique character “each with unique weapons, skills and combat styles, and master a deep real-time combat system with team-based techniques.” The game will take place in the same realm as the game Granblue Fantasy but will be in a different location and characters from the first game are said to be present in the new game. 
 

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (PS5, XSX/S, PC) - February 2

Coming in hot with a price of $69.99 is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game will let you play as one of the members of Task Force X: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang or King Shark. Each of the members will have unique traversal mechanics and access to multiple weapons. Since the embargo has lifted, there have been mixed reviews from those that got a hands-on sneak peak of the game with IGN
reporting that the battle mechanics felt “less than inspired” after you’ve gone through the “fun moments” in the story. Players will get to form their own opinions about the game soon enough on February 2nd.

Persona 3 Reload (PC, PS4/5, Xbox One, XSX/S) - February 2

Also coming out on February 2nd is Persona 3 Reload. This is a remake of the Original Persona 3 that was released in 2006. The story follows the same protagonist who returns to his home city years after his parents were killed in a fatal car crash. This RPG (or JRPG) describes itself as “a captivating reimagining of the genre-defining RPG, reborn for the modern era.” There will be new scenes, character interactions, and additional voicework to look forward to as you build your team and climb closer to discovering the truth.

Helldivers 2 (PC, PS5) - February 8

Helldivers 2 is a third-person sci-fi co-op shooter developed by Arrowhead Studios. As a Helldiver, players will reclaim planets that have fallen under enemy control while they complete objectives to earn rewards that will enable them to upgrade weapons, armor, and more! The first edition of Helldivers was a top-down game released in 2015 and still sits at “Very Positive” on Steam. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden (PC, PS5, XSX/S) - February 13

Don’t Nod, a French studio that brought you Life is Strange and Vampyr, has been working hard to develop a new action RPG called Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. The game is set in New Eden in 1695 and follows two lovers, Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith, who are also Banishers. These Banishers protect the living from ghosts and specters. When a mission goes awry, Antea is fatally wounded and becomes a spirit. “How much will you compromise your ghost-hunting vow for the sake of your lover who became one of such spirits?”

Tomb Raider Remastered (Switch, PC, PS, Xbox) - February 14

Gone are the awkward blocky bits and here to stay is the epic trilogy that captivated gamers. These classics will be ready to play on current systems. You can even change to the original polygon mode anytime if you’re getting wistful about the nostalgia of the originals. Aspyr says, “It’s a love letter to all of our memories of these games, but it’s also truly fascinating to see how far hardware pushed in the ‘90s to make Tomb Raider work.”

Skull and Bones (PC, PS5, XSX/S) - February 16

One might venture to say that this game has seen some rough waters during its development journey with the delays that it has seen. This pirate co-op open-world action RPG is coming out over 10 years after it was conceived as an expansion for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Players will spend a majority of their time at sea engaging in naval combat, but will have the opportunity to go on land as you collect contracts and prepare to set sail on the next adventure. Each of the 10 starting ships are highly customizable and can be furnished and armored. You’ll even have the chance at keeping a pet on board! Gameplay is based off the infamy system, meaning the more you make a name for yourself, the more you’ll unlock in the game.
