Among Us is going 3D!

Innersloth, the developer behind Among Us, has unveiled an exciting new update to the world of Amung US: Among Us 3D. This upcoming release transitions the classic 2D gameplay into a fully immersive 3D, first-person experience, allowing players to engage in the familiar tasks and deception from a fresh perspective.

Among Us 3D builds upon the foundation laid by Among Us VR, which debuted in 2022, but didn’t take off as much as the original. The VR industry, although working diligently, is possibly years away from competing for users with consoles and PC. This new 3D version of the game bridges the gap between VR users and other gamers by making the first-person experience accessible to all PC players without the need for additional hardware. It also enables PC users to join games with VR players across various platforms, including Meta Quest, Steam VR, PlayStation VR 2, and PICO.

For those eager to get a sneak peek, a demo of Among Us 3D will be available during Steam Next Fest, starting February 24, 2025. This event offers players a chance to experience the new 3D environment and mechanics firsthand. While an official release date has yet to be announced, the game is slated to launch soon on Steam. Check out the trailer below:

Did you know the characters are called beans? It’s news to me! But it does make them more adorable somehow.

In addition to the new perspective, Among Us 3D introduces "stardust," an in-game currency that players can earn and use to purchase cosmetic items. Importantly, this currency will not be used to buy game modes or features, ensuring that all players have access to the same core gameplay elements. The original 2D version of Among Us will continue to be available; however, it will not support cross-play with the 3D edition. This decision maintains the integrity of both versions, allowing players to choose their preferred style of play.

Among Us 3D is poised to offer both new and veteran players an engaging and immersive twist on the classic game of teamwork and betrayal, are you going to check it out?

Metal Head

I wonder if this will be free for owners of the original, or will we need to buy it separately? I'm sure it's the latter and not the former like usual.
