The new achievements overhaul, do they do anything? Is there there a benefit of doing them at all?

Achievement number go up, that's it. Getting the achievement is the only reward. As pointless as they are, like Everest, I find myself doing them because they are there.

I mean, I guess it's good that they work. Many of the old ones were broken.

I added an about me and the achievemtn didn't pop. Guess there's still broken ones.
