Just an OLD gamer.

Just a heads up for anyone thinking about upgrading their RAM. Crucial just announced that they are going to stop making RAM for sale to PC parts stores ( Like Newegg, etc. ) starting next year. I already see that RAM prices have gone way up since their announcement. A 16GB RAM chip ( which isn't a Crucial branded one ) for my M17 on Dell's site increased by $60 since yesterday! So if you are thinking about upgrading, you might want to either get something now or scrap that upgrading option altogether.

My second gaming laptop only needs 64GB of RAM, unless I could get 32GB, because it's already a high-end experience. I'm not paying any higher than $200 or less because it's ridiculous how much the prices have shifted. I'll take my chances.

My 16GB upgrade chip went from $180 last week to $200 yesterday and now is $260 today! I was going to use my DRP for it but it just feels like I'm getting screwed at these prices.

Unfortunately my old M17 laptop can only be upgraded to 32GB ( it only has 16GB now ) so I was stuck with trying to get 2 of the 16GB chips since the single 32GB chip is now over $360 on the Dell site.

Don't forget that the focus is more on providing RAM for AI now too which is driving up prices. It's not just RAM either. My NVMe drive is $100 more than it was a month ago.

Anyone know of a similar computer ram compatibilty search tool that crucial has. It was really helpful seeing what I could put in my laptop.

So those RAM compressing tools from years ago finally start making sense... if they would work.

I remember when some people bought a prebuild just to get a new GPU at a decent price. It's starting to make sense to get a prebuild just to get the RAM. The A.I bubble is going go crazy when it pops.
