Your Steam Library is getting updated
Valve have recently announced in a new post on the Steam Forums that the Steam Library will get an overhaul pretty soon.
The changes are yet to come (a beta will start on September 17th), but they are aimed especially at players that have huge libraries ("for some customers, they contain more than fifteen years of games"), as Valve want it to make it easier to sort your games. Firstly we'll have the "What's new" section which highlights game that have been recently updated or have events taking place in 'em. Under that we'll see "Recent games", games played or purchased by you recently and under that "Recent friend activity" showcasing what your friends have been up to. What's more, players will be able to create their own list of games (see for example "Night games" in the images below) which will be able to contain whatever games you want, plus you'll be able to name them.
You will also be able to sort your games using different tags (like Players - SP, MP or COOP, Play state, Genre, Hardware support or Features).
It will also be easier to see what your friends are playing and even join them in game (if the game supports this kind of feature, of course).
Also seeing major content updates for your favorite games has never been easier as the new Steam Library will show you all the updates:

We're taking the first step today by giving developers access to new editor tools for events and announcements, as well as upgrading the events and announcements pages for players.
While we’re putting the finishing touches on the new library you can follow the Steam blog for more updates and in-depth information about the new library before we open the public beta on September 17th.
